     Hi to all,

Will the 708 do a vin learn for a 2006 Buick Century for a RDS radio? I have a customer with a locked radio. Or do I need a GM Tech.2 ? OR is this a reflash? Mitchell says to erase the lock code then turn off the IGN and back on and it will relearn the Vin. Won't work for me. I can change setting on the radio with the 708 and clear codes .

No our autel tools are not capable of such function, a tech2 or passthru with either
tis2000 or tis web and a sub is needed. Its called vin relearn. Now on certain gm
vehicles can't remember which one or what year, this function was available on the
tech2 so for this particular vehicle it may be found on the 708 or maxisys but I haven't
yet found it. Other functions not available is vtd vehicle theft deterrent relearn. and
writing vin which is only possible when flashing ecm/pcm.

     HI,

I through you might be able to do this because I have installed a ECM from a salvage yard for a Honda van and put in the vin. Under change ECM store the info from the old one and install it in the new used one and worked fine. Maybe there is a hidden menu I haven't found yet. I think the tech 2 erases the vin so you can start over.

yes you can do that for many vehicles but not on gm and ford, the only way to rewrite
the vin on a gm or ford vehicle is by flashing the ecm/pcm, a tech2 by it self does not
change a vin on any gm vehicle without the tis2000 or tis web, their calibration files are
by vin number so the only way to change vin is by flashing. Now regarding the radio
only on some early models was possible to do the e radio vin relearn with just the
tech2,the rest of this vehicles requires the use of tis2000 or tisweb with a sub
